These are my preliminary rankings for the 2024 NFL Drafts. Rankings are not final and will be updated throughout the season. I haven’t watched every player, so keep that in mind.
1) Caleb Williams
USC QB: Williams is the only QB with a legit Mahomes comparison. He has a good arm, can get on his horse, and has insane touch. This is going to be THE guy for a long time.
2) Drake Maye
UNC QB: Maye is probably the purest pocket passer in the class. He has the ability to run but leans on it too much. He needs to trust his arm and eyes more.
3) Marvin Harrison Jr.
OSU WR: One of the best WR prospects we have seen in a while. He has it all. His route running, hands, and spatial awareness are off the charts. Bigger than his father, he is the prototypical NFL wide receiver.
4) J.T. Tuimoloau
OSU EDGE: The premiere EDGE of this class. He has all the right traits but must have a better pass-rush plan to take the next step. He has a motor for days and doesn't give up on plays.
5) Dallas Turner
Bama EDGE: Huge upside edge. He has excellent traits but needs to put it all together this year. I am interested to see how he does without Will Anderson next to him, becoming the new leader of Nick Saban’s defense.
6) Brock Bowers
UGA TE: Great in both blocking and the passing game. He has good size, speed, and route running. He makes up the majority of the UGA offense and can change the game from the Tight End position.
7) Joe Alt
ND OT: The most NFL-ready OT in the class. He's 6'7 317 and moves well at that size. Feet and hand placement are NFL level already. I like him a lot in the passing game—a natural QB protector.
8) Kool-aid Mckinstry
Bama CB: Kool-aid Mckinstry is a no-fly zone. A superb athlete has excellent footwork and is getting better in the mental game—steady improvement in every game the last two years as Alabama’s number one corner.
9) Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Penn St OT: Raw prospect who has excellent size and athleticism. He needs to work on his foot placement but has strong, quick hands. He needs to be more patient when pass-blocking. He tends to attack early, which can cause him problems.
10) Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Clemson LB: An NFL-ready LB with plenty of upside. Good in pass coverage, rush defense, and pass rush. He is undersized, but his athleticism makes up for it.
11) Bralen Trice
Wash EDGE: Lean rusher who sets the edge well. He needs to develop a pass-rush plan, but his flexibility and athleticism help offset that. His bend around blockers is next level, and he quickly gains inside leverage.
12) Andrew Mukuba
Clemson S: He is an excellent ball-playing safety. Mukuba is a player who is unafraid to stick his nose in on run plays. Super high potential and needs more snaps to develop—one of my favorite players in the class.
13) JC Latham
Bama OL: A Versatile offensive lineman. He is strong and can move very well for his size. Latham consistently lands blocks on the second level and has good hand placement.
14) Michael Hall Jr.
OSU DT: Hall is a high-motor tackle who has good power for a DT. Best when lining up over the ball. He has tremendous upside and could be a real force in the NFL. I would like to see him produce more this year.
15) Rome Odunze
WASH WR: A wide receiver who can take the top of the defense. Odunze is a threatening RAC player who quickly switches from receiver to runner. Needs to catch with his hands more and tends to catch with his body.
16) Jared Verse
FSU EDGE: A great combination of size and speed. Verse has a good move set but needs to work on his secondary move. He could have come out last year but chose to stay and move higher into round one.
17) Emeka Egbuka
OSU WR: Extremely exciting wide receiver who can play inside out. The number 2 at OSU can really show out this year. Has great skills and traits, but also has good football IQ when reading zones.
18) Denzel Burke
OSU CB: Incredibly quick DB who can flip his hips instantly. With good ball-tracking skills, Burke is a top-tier man corner. He is a fast thinker on the field and will be a leader at Ohio State this year.
19) Calen Bullock
USC S: A quick-footed safety who tracks the ball well in the air. 6'3 with long arms to match makes him hard to beat. Huge up-side, but Bullock clearly needs more reps.
20) Zion Tupuola-Fetui
WASH DL: A strong defensive lineman who has range for days. He has a super high motor and is very quick off the line. His counter moves are his trump card in the pass rush.
21) Xavier Worthy
Texas WR: I am probably higher on Worthy than most people. He has all the traits but just needs to put it all together, and this can be the year that happens for him. Finally, has the QB and offense to maximize his skill set.
22) Maason Smith
LSU EDGE: He has width, but he can still move. Smith has outstanding play strength. He has a good move-set but needs to up his agility. Super intrigued to see his progression this year.
23) Kalen King
Penn St CB: A ball-hawking corner with insane anticipation. He cleanly flips his hips and is a fluid mover. He won't be a press corner and could be better in recovery, but he can play well as a slot corner.
24) Quinn Ewers
Texas QB: This could be the year of Quinn Ewers. The former 5-star looks ready to take the next step. Ewers is above average in everything but needs to speed up his processing, and early reports are that his eyes have caught up to his arm.
25) Troy Franklin
Oregon WR: Lanky wide receiver, but he plays strong through his hands. Has great foot control and makes sharp cuts when running routes. At 6'3 180 pounds, you would like to see him add a bit of mass, but I don’t think it is necessary.
26) Sedrick Van Pran
UGA IOL: Van Pran plays smart with his leverage. The Georgia Cornerstone has the technical ability in the passing game but is also violent when run-blocking. He struggles to pull, and when he has to climb to the second level.
27) Chop Robinson
Penn ST EDGE: The 6 foot 3, incredibly lean edge rusher has all the traits. Chop is quick off the line and gets hands to pad quickly. Would like to see him develop a better pass-rush plan. Penn State drops him into coverage... and they should not do that.
28) Jack Sawyer
OSU EDGE: EXPLOSIVE athlete. He can climb to a top-level defender once he develops a better pass-rush plan. Could take a huge step this year and see himself rise even further.
29) Javon Bullard
UGA S: The new UGA defensive star. Off-the-field issues could see him slide, but Bullard is a stud safety who isn't afraid to stick his nose into the run game. If he improves in press, he will go a lot higher than this. He can also play STAR Corner.
30) Kingsley Suamataia
BYU OT: A robust, aggressive tackle who is always on the hunt. He is much better in run blocking when he is able to get downfield. Suamataia needs to be more patient in the passing game.
31) Malik Nabers
LSU WR: A 6'0 WR who is excellent in the air. He is clean in and out of cuts and needs to work on his hands. I would like to see him move around the field a little more this season.
32) Barrett Carter
Clemson LB: An explosive linebacker with great instincts. Good in coverage and makes the most of pass-rush opportunities when afforded them. It could be a great NFL MIKE backer.
33) Terrion Arnold
Bama CB: Arnold is a really good ball-playing corner. He is extremely raw, but he is talented. An extremely fluid mover but has a slight frame—an extremely hardworking guy.
34) Cooper Beebe
KSU OT: Projects as a guard in the NFL. However, he is a highly talented offensive lineman with good hands and feet, high motor, and grit. He is flexible and quick enough to handle fast edge rushers.
35) Jer'Zhan Newton
Illinois DL: Jer'Zhan Newton, the immovable object. With his stout build and string arms, his body is built for the NFL. He doesn't shed blocks well, so instead, he runs people over.
36) Deshawn Pace
Cincy LB: A sideline-to-sideline playmaker with some situational pass-rush ability off the edge. A breakout year could see him fly up draft boards. Expect him to test really well in Indy next year.
37) Nehemiah Pritchett
Auburn CB: A well-rounded jack of all trades... but he is the master of one, his agility. Sometimes it feels like he sees routes and breaks before they happen with his reaction time.
38) Antwane Wells Jr.
SC WR: I think Wells is going to show out this year. He is the best WR in the SEC this year. Reliable hands and great route running combine with a decent athletic profile. One of my favorite players in the class so far.
39) Ja'Tavion Sanders
Texas TE: Not a downfield target, but he is really good in space. Reliable hands and is a violent runner. Not going to run past a DB in the NFL, but has a really high ceiling.
40) Kamari Lassiter
UGA CB: A true playmaker, Lassiter is great with the ball in the air. Flips his hips with ease and is a fluid mover. Needs to bulk up a bit as bigger WR's muscle him out of the way.
41) Cooper DeJean
Iowa CB: A well-rounded DB who can do it ALL. You can play outside, star, or high safety. He is a GREAT athlete. He was a four-sport superstar in high school. He has ball-hawking ability near the top of this class. He needs to improve in pursuit but other than that, he is a great prospect.
42) Michael Penix Jr.
WASH QB: A strong-arm QB with a lightning-quick release. Not a great runner but can threaten in the run game. He can spread the ball to any part of the field. He needs to work on his touch and placement. If he plays the way he did last year, he will be a first-rounder.
43) Leonard Taylor
Miami DL: A pass rush Maniac. He destroys linemen but also is smart in his movements. Dynamic and fun to watch in the passing game, he needs to work on his run defense and shedding blocks when the O-line is on the attack.
44) Tyleik Williams
OSU DT: He could be in for a breakout year. He is super raw, but he looks like a top-level guy when he has flashes. He can move people but struggles to be agile and move with agility.
45) Mike Pratt
Tulane QB: Pratt is the sleeper QB of the class. He is an extremely raw, well-rounded player who needs to prove he has it mentally—a legit duel threat with the legs and arm to produce at the NFL level.
46) Connor Colby
Iowa IOL: Colby is a MEAN run blocker. He is an athlete with a real mean streak. Colby has light feet for a 300-pounder; he loves to fly up the field. Consistently lands strong blocks at the second level.
47) Cole Bishop
Utah S: Speed, hit power, and ball-tracking ability make Bishop a weapon over the top. He can shoot gaps in the run game if asked. He gives too much cushion in man, which can occasionally be a problem.
48) James Williams
Miami S: A safety who loves to stick his nose into the run game. Makes the most of his pass-rush opportunities. He is an explosive athlete with natural cover skills.
49) Bryce Foster
TAMU C: Foster can contribute early. A good mix of agility, technique, and size. He isn't going to be a superstar, but he will be a contributor for a long time.
50) Spencer Rattler
SC QB: Former 5-star QB and starter at Oklahoma. Fell off a bit and lost his job leading to a transfer. Hit his stride towards the end of the season with South Carolina, and if he continues to play like that, he could get back to his 2020 levels.
